Samsung Galaxy S2 “Skyrocket” goes up in smoke:
In sweet tales of irony, it seems that Samsung could not help copying Apple’s amazing antipodean firework show, and simply had to prove that their own devices were just as capable of combustion as Apple’s.
I assume this incident is going to help Apple prove that Samsung slavishly copied their devices design right down to the James Bond style burn out option.
Either that or it is a ploy by Apple to take some shine of their rather shiny black eye as a result of the plane incident earlier this week.
The images below show a forum poster from xda-developers friends phone, after it internally combusted on him in much the same way that the Apple iPhone 4S did.
Talking about the incident, the unfortunate Samsung owner states:
“He said he heard a sound, and then [felt] a burning sensation on his leg and as he pulled this piece of junk out of his pocket he smelled burning, there was smoke coming out of his pocket and out of the phone.”
It all seems rather funny to me that this happens at this particular time, what do you think?
As an owner of the Samsung S2 I can say it runs damn hot though!
